At Kingdom Appliance Repair, we recently received a service call from a customer in Bradenton, FL, who was frustrated with their Samsung refrigerator that had suddenly stopped cooling. The lights were on, the display worked fine, but the refrigerator compartment and freezer were both warm — not what you want to see when you’re trying to keep groceries fresh!
Once we arrived and inspected the unit, we quickly determined that the compressor was running and there were no error codes on the display. That led us to check the evaporator fan motor, a common culprit in Samsung refrigerators when cooling issues occur.
The evaporator fan is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the fridge and freezer. If the fan motor fails, the cold air generated by the evaporator coil can’t reach the rest of the unit — making it appear as if the refrigerator isn’t cooling, even though the cooling system is still working in the background.
After removing the back panel inside the freezer, we found that the fan was completely seized up and no longer spinning. We replaced the faulty evaporator fan motor with a brand-new OEM part. Once installed, we powered the unit back on and waited for the system to stabilize. Within 20 minutes, we could already feel cold air circulating again through the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
We also took the time to clean out any dust and ice buildup and made sure the defrost system was functioning properly, just in case that contributed to the failure.
The customer was relieved and happy to see their Samsung refrigerator back in action without needing to buy a new unit.
